Vocal music & Harmonium - Shetal Dabgar

Shetal imparts vocal and harmonium lessons in Adelaide, South Australia. The lessons are conducted on a one-on-one basis, considering the interests and requisites of her students.

Her classes consist of learning the fundamentals of voice application. After the student has progressed from this stage, she then starts teaching them various ragas. This includes imparting knowledge to the students in order for them to be able to compose aalaap and taans on their own. Besides this, they are also taught how to sing various compositions in particular rhythmic structures, Teen Taal and Ek Taal being the most common patterns.
She also teaches bhajans, kirtans, and dhoons (devotional songs).

Born in Gujarat, Shetal started getting systematic training of Indian classical singing, since she was six years old. Her first guru, Mr Keshu Patel, was the person who instilled a genuine interest in her for learning Indian music.

Shetal spent her first few years learning with Mr Keshu Patel, and later, enrolled at the Saptak School of Music. Here, she started learning classical singing under the guidance of Mr Vikas Parikh, an eminent vocalist who is a student of Mr Krishnakant Parikh and also the Padma Vibhushan Maestro Pt Jasraj.

After having spent a considerable amount of time learning music in India, Shetal gradually started teaching.

She also teaches bhajans, kirtans, and dhoons (devotional songs), to those who are interested.
